TRIASMEDIA – Green Bay Packers Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers tests positive for COVID-19, aaron rodgers covid Jordan Love Blake Bortles quarterback Aaron Rodgers has tested positive for COVID-19 and will not play against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, a source confirmed to ESPN.

The NFL has considered Rodgers unvaccinated since the start of the season, sources confirmed to ESPN and as first reported by the NFL Network.

Rodgers was placed on the league/COVID-19 reserve roster along with cornerback Isaac Yiadom on Wednesday, and the NFL said it would look into how the Packers handle the league’s COVID-19 protocol.

Under league protocol, if Rodgers tests positive and is not vaccinated, he must be quarantined for a minimum of 10 days and cannot return until November 13 at the earliest, if he remains asymptomatic.

Rodgers, 37, had alternative medicine before the start of training camp, sources told ESPN, and he later petitioned the NFL for that treatment to have him considered the same as someone who received one of the approved vaccinations. After a lengthy back and forth, the league, players’ union and infectious disease consultants agreed by both sides heard Rodgers’ case for exclusion and decided he would not be given equal consideration and would be deemed unvaccinated.

Sources said Rodgers followed confidential protocol when interacting with players and coaches inside the team’s headquarters at Lambeau Field. However, Rodgers did not wear a mask while in the media auditorium during his weekly and post-match press conferences. The Packers have put other unvaccinated players on Zoom instead of live media sessions.
